The cottage!

I meant to post those blog earlier this week but things have been crazy!!
Last weekend I was fortunate enough to get some time off and head to the cottage in Tobermory for a weekend. It was a great time to relax, catch up with my summer friends, read in the summer sun (The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is a summer favourite!) and just hang with the family. I had such a great time!
Here are some of my photos from my little vaca - away.

First off, some sunset and landscape photos i enjoyed.

This to me shows my cottage in a way i like to see it. peaceful. calm. This photo reminded me of the Notebook for some reason!

Band of the week

So I've decided I LOVE the band Trainlight. They are amazing! I went to Chads show a few weeks back because I had already been in Toronto doing a shoot and I decided I would take a couple pictures of my friends and I at the show. Chad always does such an amazing job at his shows - but this show was better than expected. These 4 young guys get on stage while we all were chatting away... then it started. Our attention was quickly drawn to the young guys blasting out wicked licks and sounds of maturity beyond their years. I immediately pulled out my camera to get a couple shots - the lighting in the venue was worse than terrible but I came out with a few shots I liked. Most are of Christian - the singer, and i appologize to the other guys for this - I was just playin around and promise next time to snap more!
Thanks for inspiring me with your music, I'm hooked!

Alycia Shoot

Alycia is one of my good friends and quite possibly one of the most stunning ladies in my life. I love this girl - we've grown up together and I've always thought she should model. I was so excited to shoot some photos of her - and she did such a great job! Our girl Amanda also came along for the fun and was a great little assistant! We went to the Hermitage in Ancaster which was super cool to shoot at - loved the broken down brick and iron fence!
Im forcing Alycia to be a famous model - end of story.

Natasha Shoot

Now this girl is sweet! I met Natasha through my friend Marie, and we clicked right away. She was so excited to do this shoot - which always puts me in the same mood. We had tons of fun shooting downtown and also back at her place (fabulous house - let me tell you). Thanks for such a great time Natasha, can't wait to see more of you!

Steph and her girls!

Last week I got to shoot Steph and the gals - we had such a fun time! They all dressed up so glam (I didn't even want to stand next to them lets just say) and they all posed for some fun shots. The photos are meant to be a reminder to one another once they all go away to University and college in the fall. These girls were so close - and had so much fun together. It reminded me how important my own girls are to me as I saw these girls laughing and bonding behind the scenes and in front of the lens.

Terra is a hippy lovin' lady.

When Terra stayed for the weekend at my place for a much needed catch-up time we had planned to shoot some different sides of her. The first day we went for more of a classic, all american (er, Canadian) girl shoot - which you can see two entries below and for the second we wanted a more hippy-music-lovin'-vintage girl kinda look.
Her guitar skills are CRRAZYYYY ... ha ha!

We had so much fun that we have already began planning our next get together! See what the beauty of photography can do?? I love more than ANYTHING that it has brought people together and back into my life and also has given me so many new friends and kept me in touch with all the oldies aswell.

He's one of those guys who can just smile at you on a bad day and totally turn that frown upside down. My dad is one of the most caring, funny, and interesting dads you will ever meet. He's witty (I wish I got more of this from him.. he's speedy at comebacks), he's friendly, he's funny (and sometimes very lame... sorry dad) and he's just everything a dad should be. I consider him one of my best friends. I talk to him about mostly everything and he always has just about the right advice to keep me grounded and smiling. He is mine and my sisters biggest fan ( he video tapes EVERYTHING) and is always the one to give us that extra push to be the best we can be. I can always count on him to stay up late into the night just to proof read and edit my essays, even if he does have to get up in 3 hours.
My dad is such inspiration to me and without him I wouldn't be the person i am today. I thank him for so many things - too many to name. Add him to facebook and I can assure you he will write something hilariously witty about you - give it a shot.. he never fails to impress. Happy Birthday dad, I love you more than words.

Terra's Shoot

When we were kids, Terra and I went to Camp Mini-Yo-We. Just a tid bit of info here - but who remembers "It Takes Two" with the Olsen twins? Oh yes, my friends... same camp! As a kid I thought that was uber cool (psssh who am I kidding, I still think it!)

Anyways, my friend Dez from the summer before brought up Terra and we all became good friends! It had been waaaay too long since I had seen Terra - probably the beginning of highschool when I went to Whitby to visit them. It was a long awaited visit and I was sooo excited to see her and take photos - she is absolutely stunning behind the lens!

Oh and I forgot to mention - she is one of the most stunning girls you will ever see. Makes me sick really (hehe!)

Megan's Shoot

So last week I had the honour of shooting photos of Megan for her portfolio. Megan is a dancer and an actress and is one of the nicest girls you will ever meet.

She is so passionate about what she does - and you can tell with her personality and sass that she is such an amazing actress (I still need to get out to one of her shows!).

I met Megan four years ago in a line-up. Both of us were dedicated Canadian Idol fans and spent far too many hours and days in line-ups dressed up like fools to get free tickets, and hard to get seats.
We always got in - but I must say I never took it as far as she did. One time Megan actually camped outside the studio over night to get tickets to the season finale!!! Now that my friends, is dedication!
I miss those days but getting together brought back so many great memories of our wild idol summers and reminded me of what a fabulous person Megan is.

After being scared away by a homeless woman (scariest moment of my life - pretty sure!) it started to pour rain and we ran to the near shelter - an apartment building hense this horrible backdrop. Megan was playing in the rain - and it wasn't just a little rain, it was torrential down pour!! did I mention I LOVE this girl?!

Today I finally got to see the video that my friend Jordan is in and here I sat - bawling my eyes out. Jordan was born without his right leg, yet he still runs and you wouldn't even know it. I didnt. Please take a moment and watch this video and I hope that in inspires you in the ways it has me.
I'm doing a photoshoot of Jordan in August and I absolutely can't wait!

I am so excited to welcome my NEW fashion assistant...Julia Stott!
Julia is in the fashion program at George Brown College and is beyond amazing at what she does. When i think of Julia - i think of her awesome style and great hair!
Julia is a great friend of mine who I met earlier this year and is so much fun to have around. She came on a shoot I did this week in Toronto and was so great - she carried all the bags (love her!!) and helped Megan with outfits and me with fun ideas. She's so great to have around and I am thrilled to have her with me this summer.. I know she will teach me a thing or two!

Charlene and Thom's Wedding

Last year I wanted to shoot weddings this summer as the lead - although decided later this year I wanted to focus more on fashion and music photography.
This weekend however, I had the pleasure of shooting Thom and Charlene's wedding and I have to tell you - it was waaaay too much fun. I met up with these two a couple times before their big day and they were just beaming with excitement - which made me do the same. It was an honour to work with them and overall was just a great, fun day! Congrats to the both of you.

They met before the service (which is so awesome to do by the way) to get their photos and i loved how it happened!

Here is Charlene going to meet Thom

Thom turned around and Charlene came up behind and tapped him on the shoulder. i LOVED his reaction. When he turned around he said "wow you look exactly how i wanted. this is what i want" ... i melted.

I asked them for a super cool groom pose - and LOVED what Thom did. It was hilarious because I wasn't expecting it.

I loved the flowers! So bright and summery.

This was on our way to do more photos of Thom and Charlene. Thom's son Hunter came and walked with them - i love him! He was so great throughout the whole day. I thought this was adorable and I loved that he wore the flowered shirt - he was too cool for the suit. They warned me previously that this may happen.

I liked this one of the group - they were all laughing and I liked the feel of this one.

Cheyne Annual Outdoor Service

Last week I went to my churches outdoor service - a service that takes place once a year outdoors following an awesome BBQ. Its always a great time with tons of great music, people, and food. I didn't sing with them for this service in particular - allison did, but I do take part in singing with Darrell every other week on Sunday mornings. I love it. I thought I would take some photos as we don't have many at all. The band is beyond amazing and I am more than honoured to have the opportunity to be a part of it! Love these guys.

Kid Gib

I met Kid Gib four years ago at the underground in hamilton. At the time, I was trying to take pictures on my point and shoot of Hedley and Sarah wasn't even paying attention to them AT ALL but rather flirting and videotaping these cute blondes (and brunette, haha)who just happened to have amazing pop/rock beats and be friendliest guys around - Kid Gib right away became a new local favourite of ours.

Now, a few years later, I have become great friends with the band, and was so excited for this recent shoot. These guys know how to have a good time and its never a dull moment.
They were the first people i EVER photographed when i bought my camera - but we are NOT going to talk about that shoot. haha. With time, we have shot a couple different shoots and always had some good times doing so. I am so thankful for our friendship and the support they have shown to me. Expect big things from them. I love you all dearly :)

Charity in front of the lens

Its always a blast meeting other photographers and talking about our main passion which just happens to be our job. Its so cool to hear what they have to say and how each of us look at photos so differently - its the same subject or situation but viewed completely different. That is the beauty of what we do.
Recently, Krista and I did a shoot of Charity and her kids - i did more of charity while krista snapped the kids and so on.
she is so beautiful - and it reflects in her children as well.

Nicolina was one of my first models ever! She is amazing - so photogenic and uniquely beautiful. i have never seen eyes like the ones on this girl! We had so much fun re-creating a marilyn monroe type shoot (the first shots which sadly i cannot post) and then the shots you see here.
