Kid Gib

Saturday, June 21, 2008

I met Kid Gib four years ago at the underground in hamilton. At the time, I was trying to take pictures on my point and shoot of Hedley and Sarah wasn't even paying attention to them AT ALL but rather flirting and videotaping these cute blondes (and brunette, haha)who just happened to have amazing pop/rock beats and be friendliest guys around - Kid Gib right away became a new local favourite of ours.

Now, a few years later, I have become great friends with the band, and was so excited for this recent shoot. These guys know how to have a good time and its never a dull moment.
They were the first people i EVER photographed when i bought my camera - but we are NOT going to talk about that shoot. haha. With time, we have shot a couple different shoots and always had some good times doing so. I am so thankful for our friendship and the support they have shown to me. Expect big things from them. I love you all dearly :)

Here are some photos from our recent shoot!

Charity in front of the lens

Monday, June 16, 2008

Its always a blast meeting other photographers and talking about our main passion which just happens to be our job. Its so cool to hear what they have to say and how each of us look at photos so differently - its the same subject or situation but viewed completely different. That is the beauty of what we do.
Recently, Krista and I did a shoot of Charity and her kids - i did more of charity while krista snapped the kids and so on.
she is so beautiful - and it reflects in her children as well.
Thanks for a great night, Charity!

ps: i know you want to..... go be a model. you deserve to be in front of the lens!

Here are my fave photos from the shoot:

Nicolina

Tuesday, June 10, 2008

Nicolina was one of my first models ever! She is amazing - so photogenic and uniquely beautiful. i have never seen eyes like the ones on this girl! We had so much fun re-creating a marilyn monroe type shoot (the first shots which sadly i cannot post) and then the shots you see here. Thanks Neen for allowing me to capture your beauty - and reminding me that i have gorgeous friends! Love.love.

I <3 NY

Friday, May 30, 2008

So yesterday my mom and I left on our flight to NEW YORK CITY!! One of my favourite places EVER! I went last year in my graduating year on the art trip and fell in love. The lights, the business, the famous stores, the fashion, the crazy street people selling photographs, strawberry fields, central park - just a dream city for me really. One day I hope to work here - it would be crazzzziness.

We arrived in NYC around 6 oclock and took a cab to our hotel. Its a cute little hotel with the friendliest staff!

Not only is the NYC culture so alive and FANTASTIC but last night showed me that the people in the city are truly beautiful aswell. My mom and I witnessed a few random acts of kindness.

We planned a trip to Times Square and had to take the subway and go transit type deal to get there. When i went to get my tickets from the machine I only had 20 dollar bills... I hadnt spend anything yet so i had nothing smaller. The ticket total was $21.00 and would not let me give anythin but the exact change. So here i am - stressing out .. our train is coming.. i end up pressing the automated voice button which louldy talks to me and tells me what to do. It was sooo loud - embarrasing! Angered, i go back to my mom and ask if she has a dollar bill - she doesnt.

So we were about to go ask some people if they had change when a man silently directed me to him. I walked over and he gave me the dollar. I insisted that I just get change for the bill I had and he told me not to worry about a thing. We even offered a loonie but he was sooo happy to have helped out and given us that dollar. He told us to have a fanstastic evening and to enjoy the city. I loved that. I cant really explain it - but he was just so kind.

When we got to the Penn Station - again we got totally lost.. NYC is terrible for making sense with direction. I dont get it. As we stopped and looked uber confused - a man came over and gave us all the direction we needed to know and was so incredibly polite! Loved him too. haha

Thirdly, we went into the Virigin Records music store and I noticed a girl in a wheelchair had dropped a $20 dollar bill. The man behind her picked up the bill and went and gave it back to the woman letting her know that she had dropped it. Amazing. The same thing happened later with a man who dropped his keys.

I know these dont sound like huge deals or anything - but to see all of this happen as I walked the city really made me realize that people are truly good.

I love New York!

Here are a couple pictures so far! YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

start spreading the news....... im leavin today..
i wanna be a part of it....
(Eden Jefferson sings the BEST version of that.. just sayin')

Here i am before my night on the town.

Rachels Photoshoot

Monday, May 26, 2008

I did photos recently of Rachels friend Lindsay. Both girls are Hamilton Bulldogs ice girls and AMAZING dancers. When Rachel asked me to do her photos I was super excited. I mean, look at her eyes!! I knew right away she would be super photogenic and couldnt wait. On the down side, we could not have picked a COLDER day!! The weekend before had been smokin' hot but the day we shot had to have been about -3 degrees (most likely not that cold, but you catch my drift). Me being the smarty pants I am did not even bring a sweater..smart Beth, reeeeaaal smart. So once again, i had my model outside in freezing cold weather in summer clothing . She was a real sport and really did a great job! Not one complaint from her end. We had a great time shooting and i love that we shot in behind an old church - totally random! We made the wrong turn and were backing up and i said "HERE, RIGHT HERE!". We used the walls and doors that surrounded the parking lot and a green walled tire shop. So here are some photos from the fun filled shoot!
