Angela's miracles

Thursday, May 7, 2009

As a woman of faith, I love when miracles surprise us out of the mundane moments of life. As I walked with Dion and Angela along the waterfront they told me about their "miracle" children - Caleb that is now 5 and his baby sister still growing in Angela's belly. It has taken a lot of time and heartache for this family to grow - but I doubt there could be more loved children anywhere! It's definitely going to be worth the wait!

Let me show you the beautiful family!

I love shooting at the beach - and one thing I love is that every single time I go I am surprised by it! These first photos are taken where there is typically long grass and trees - the trees were cut down and the grass was all down. But, I loved it! Changes the look and feel entirely! The texture is so interesting!

Here is my favourite shot of the day.

Caleb was getting restless - so I asked him to stand up and jump around. I wasn't really expecting much, just wanted to get him comfortable with me - let him move around and have fun. Well... look what I caught!

And here are some of Angela in her glowing beauty...

I loved how the twig in the foreground followed the shape of her belly!

And the happy couple...

Best way to get a kid to cooperate for photos? Exclude them (like in the above two) suddenly they want to be a part again! ha ha!

What point is there to be at the waterfront if you don't go to the water? :-)

Angela - I can't wait to meet your little girl - it was so much fun meeting your boys!

Really? Come On People!

Thursday, April 9, 2009

A couple of years ago, Jeff was the best man at a wedding I shot for Jason & Cynthia. He had an interest in photography so we chatted... kept in touch a bit over Facebook. Recently Jeff got in touch because he needed some headshots for his new website. Jeff's business is intriguing to me... basically if you have a company, and have a big "oops!" you would contact Jeff's company - Checkmate Public Affairs - to help with crisis management.

So we were driving around the lovely factories of Hamilton when we passed "it" - something that made his whole face light up... and I drove on by. Meant nothing to me to be honest. But Jeff was distracted as we drove and said he just couldn't get it out of his mind. He felt we had to go back. So I said "nope, wouldn't work..." Kidding! We turned the car around and got the shot.

Curious as to what "it" was?

Striking workers, media covering the story... crisis. This is Jeff's "thang"! So we went back to the striking workers and while the news was interviewing them - Jeff just strolled right up next to the video camera and struck his best "Come on People. Really?" pose. This is the line I heard Jeff say a lot as we talked - and as I edited his photos I was saying it out loud too... "come on people... really?"

Jeff started his company, leaving politics, because of the whole Walkerton water scandal... so we started with some shots of clean water vs. dirty water. Let's say it together now: "come on people... really?"

And a few more of the man himself - the guy is brilliant, but so witty... every single email from him has me cracking up!

Genereux Family

Tuesday, December 2, 2008

Lisa and her family were my first clients - people I didn't know! I remember being so scared the night before our first shoot.... and since then it has been great getting to know their family as I do their annual Christmas photos, maternity and newborn shots, baby dedication services and more. The kids are comfortable with me now and I've been able to make some great friends in Mike and Lisa and their extended family. Love these guys!

So what better way to end of the 2008 Portrait season then with this family? And don't worry - I have heaps more to blog about in the coming weeks so even though shoots have slowed down.. there's lots more to come! And even though my portrait season is done for '08 I have one more wedding to shoot... on New Year's Eve! How fun!

Anyways... meet the munchkins...

Tyler is the same age as my Madi (6), Ella is the same age as my Eden (4) and then there is sweet little Mia who is about 18 months (did I get that right, Lisa?)

Could Ella be any cuter in this photo? Love this kid!

We all met at Grandma and Grandpa's house

Lisa's brother Hudson and his family

Grandpa just loves his grandkids!

Then inside to warm up!

Celebrating life and love.

Ryan & Lori's Miracle Family

Sunday, November 16, 2008

You got to love a miracle.

Ryan & Lori, after several years married adopted two young boys last year - when I photographed them last Fall I fell in love. The boys are the same ages as my girls and I marveled at how Ryan & Lori were so easily adapting to an instant family.

Then a couple months later I got an email from Lori telling me that a miracle was on it's way - surprise! They're pregnant. I was ecstatic for them.

Then surprise! It's twins.

So - to recap... this couple went from no kids to 4 kids in less than a year. Can you even imagine? I get choked up every time I think of these four young'uns in such a loving home of parents who have waited so long to adore them.

Zero to four in a year. You got to know God has a sense of humour! Glad Ryan & Lori do too! Meet the gang...

These words were above the crib - how fitting!

The two proudest, most loving big brothers in the world!

This little girl with three brothers is going to be well protected!

Celebrating life and love (and miracles!)
